Trials of Zeus Review
Zeus has been a busy god at Hacksaw Gaming, and the thunder is starting to sound familiar. Trials of Zeus swaps the marble temples for comic-book panels and sends Zeus after the titans Hades has let loose, but the trials he faces are ones Hacksaw players have already sat through twice.
Underneath the new art is the game that started as Le Zeus and came back as Zeus Ze Zecond: six reels, five rows and nineteen lines, with Wonder symbols stacking on reels 2 to 5. Every Wonder on the board reveals the same thing: either a premium symbol, a Wild, or a Wonder Reel. If the reveal makes a win, the Wonders stay put and reveal again until the wins stop. Wonder Reels are a version of the coin game Hacksaw built for Le Bandit, with coins, diamonds, clovers that multiply them, and Pots of Olympus that collect them.
The same 96.26% return, the same 20,000x ceiling, and the same three free spins rounds come along too, and the best of them is still Godly Ascension, where every full meter brings a grid of coins worth more than the last. What is new is the coat of paint and a high volatility rating, so the real question is whether you need a third copy.
Pros
- Every Wonder on the board reveals the same symbol, so four stacked reels of Wonders can turn into one premium or into Wilds all at once, and six Wilds on a line pay 200x.
- Sticky respins give the base game a second act. A winning reveal keeps the Wonders in place and they reveal again, so one good landing can chain into several paying spins.
- The coin game loops. Once the Pots of Olympus collect, everything except the pots spins again, and clovers on the next pass multiply the pots already on the board.
- Godly Ascension is the round to hope for. Fill the Wonder Meter and the whole grid turns into coins, and every refill removes the cheapest tier, so each reward spin after the first is guaranteed richer coins, all the way up to Diamonds only.
- In Gates of Hades every Wonder that lands sticks for the rest of the round.
Cons
- This is the third release of the same game. Le Zeus and Zeus Ze Zecond already carry the same grid, return, ceiling, reveal mechanic, coin ladder, bonus rounds and buy prices.
- Scatters cannot land during any of the free spins rounds, so there are no retriggers. Eight spins is what you get.
- Zeus Unleashed, the best round in the game, is not on the buy menu. Five scatters is the only way in.
- Divine FeatureSpins cost 50x a spin and can never lead to a bonus, because scatters cannot land while they are switched on.
- BonusHunt FeatureSpins return 96.1%, the lowest figure anywhere in the game.
Gameplay
Six reels, five rows and nineteen fixed lines paying left to right, with stakes from $0.10 to $50. The game returns 96.26%, volatility is rated high, and the max win is 20,000x, reachable in every game mode, with the round ending the moment it is reached and any spins left discarded. Wins need at least three of a kind. The card symbols pay 3x for six, the banner and helmet 5x, the chalice and skull 10x, the eagle 50x and Zeus 100x, and six Wilds pay 200x.
Wonder symbols land stacked on reels 2 to 5 and all reveal the same thing: a premium, a Wild, or a Wonder Reel. A winning reveal sets off respins with the Wonders held in place, until no new win lands or a Wonder Reel appears. Wonder Reels hold the coin game. Coins and diamonds reveal their values, clovers multiply them, Pots of Olympus collect everything, then every symbol except the pots spins again, and the sequence repeats.
How To Play
- Set your stake between $0.10 and $50. Wins pay left to right across nineteen fixed lines.
- Watch reels 2 to 5. That is where Wonder symbols land, and they all reveal the same symbol.
- A winning reveal holds the Wonders and respins them. The chain runs until the wins stop or a Wonder Reel appears.
- When Wonder Reels appear, look for clovers and pots. They turn small coins into a big result.
- Three scatters open Gates of Hades, four open Godly Ascension and five open Zeus Unleashed, each with 8 free spins.
- In Godly Ascension, watch the Wonder Meter. Every 25 Wonders award a spin full of Wonder Reels.

- Wonder. Lands stacked on reels 2 to 5. Every Wonder on the board reveals the same thing: all the premiums, all Wilds, or a Wonder Reel.
- Wild. Counts as any paying symbol. Six on a line pay 200x.
- Coins. Bronze 0.2x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 3x or 4x. Silver 5x, 10x, 15x or 20x. Gold 25x, 50x or 100x.
