Greedy Alice 2: Bigger Bites Review

It’s been around 18 months since Greedy Alice was released and Peter & Sons clearly thought it was time for a sequel. Greedy Alice 2: Bigger Bites is largely the same slot, with a scatter pays system on a 6×5 grid and doubling global multipliers measured by a succession of cards to the side of the board.

So the changes are minimal, but they include the addition of the Barrage feature, where 2×2 and 3×3 mystery blocks show up from time to time, helping form wins. There’s also the Multiplier Jump feature where multipliers can be skipped, speeding up your ascent through the levels.

Developer Peter & Sons is known for its amazing visuals and arguably the biggest change from the first game is the art style, which has gone from an offbeat, cartoony, 2D take on Alice in Wonderland to something that feels much more real and enveloping. It reminds me of Tim Burton’s films, with a wacky, dark atmosphere. In fact, there’s even a Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland film, right – I’m sure that was a big inspiration here. Still, this jump in visual style and quality from the first game to the second really shows you how much difference graphics can make to the slot experience.

Pros

  • Visuals are a sight to behold
  • Still a lot of fun when the multipliers get into the hundreds
  • 20,000x max win

Cons

  • Gameplay isn't too different from the original
  • Some players will find it a little simplistic
  • The Multiplier Jump feature doesn't come into play that often

Gameplay

How To Play

  1. Choose your bet size and start spinning.
  2. In the base game, land 8+ symbols of the same type anywhere on the board to make a win. Cascades allow the chance for multiple wins within one spin, and each winning cascade doubles the global multiplier. It goes 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x etc. The multiplier is reset after each spin.
  3. From time to time, the Barrage feature comes into play with 2×2 and 3×3 squares of the same symbol floating onto the grid.
  4. There’s also the Multiplier Jump feature which singles out multiplier levels to skip, helping you move up faster.
  5. Landing 3 potions triggers 8 free spins. Landing 4 potions triggers 8 free spins with at least one Barrage on every spin.
  6. In the free spins, the rules are the same but now the multiplier doesn’t reset between spins, allowing you to build up to the bigger numbers more easily.

Bonus Features

  • Buy free spins: Buy into the standard bonus round for 100x your wager.

SweepsPlays Verdict

  • This is one of those simple yet elegant slots that doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but everything just works. It makes you want to keep spinning to see if you can beat your last multiplier
  • It reminds me of Slotmill games like Emberfall and Ragnarok because of the doubling multiplier meter – if you like those slots, you’ll probably like this.
  • The RTP is about average at 96%, a touch lower than in the original Greedy Alice.
  • The art style really makes this – it draws you into its strange and dark world straight away. Alice herself doesn’t show up that often, but the other characters from Wonderland certainly do.
  • The volatility is rated ‘High’, but at times it can feel more like ‘Medium’, as wins come thick and fast.
