Play Bigger Bass Splash For Real Prizes
Bigger Bass Splash Review
By our reckoning there are at least 25 Big Bass games at the time of writing, and there could well be more by the time you’re reading! Maybe Pragmatic Play doesn’t even know the total number at this point, and that’s without counting any of the similar slots from other providers that came before or after.
As we’ve said in other Big Bass reviews, it’s not the most rewarding slot out there, so it’s a bit surprising the series blew up like it did. Well, here’s yet another version that barely changes anything of the original mechanics. There is a slight difference theme-wise with more of a Hawaiian/surf feel, but is that enough to warrant another release?
The grid here has 5 reels and 4 rows, but that was the case in Bigger Bass Bonanza. Also, the title screen says ‘Go bigger with up to 5000x fish!’, but we already had that with Big Bass Splash back in 2022… Splash below the water’s surface and this is the same highly volatile game you know and love/hate, only with a slightly different combination of features.
So to recap on the basics, landing 3 or more symbols (2 or more for the top symbol) on 12 paylines will score you a win. Head into the bonus round by landing 3 Scatters, and here the Fisherman Wild makes appearances, collecting the Fish Money values up for you. When you land enough Wilds, you’ll retrigger the round and increase your multiplier.
Pros
- Another Big Bass game
- Has an extra row compared to most other games in the series
- Easy to spin into the bonus game
- High RTP at 96.50%
- Free spins modifiers help you out going into the bonus game
Cons
- Another Big Bass game
- Max win is still relatively low
- Bonus round can still promise a lot and pay out little
How To Play
- Choose your bet size and start spinning.
- In the base game, the aim is to line up 3 or more of the base symbols (2 or more of the top symbol) on 12 paylines. This will generate a win.
- 3 or more Scatter symbols take you into the bonus round.
- Before the bonus round starts, you’ll be randomly awarded 1 or more modifiers, or none at all.
- The bonus round starts with 10, 15, or 20 free spins, and now the Fisherman Wild will show up, gathering up Fish Money symbols to award you their values. Plus, every time you land a Wild, a square on the progressive meter will light up. For every 4 you collect, you’ll level up, retriggering 10 spins and increasing your multiplier for Fish Money values.
- You can turn on the ante bet to increase your chance of spinning into the bonus round. You can also buy into the standard bonus game, or the Super bonus game, where you start with all the available modifiers.

Bonus Symbols
- Scatter symbol: Appears on all reels in the base game and 3 or more take you into the free spins.
- 3 awards 10 free spins.
- 4 awards 15 free spins.
- 5 awards 20 free spins.
- Fish Money symbol: These all carry a multiplied value of your current wager: 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 200x, 500x, 1,666x, 2,500x, 5,000x. The values can only be collected in the bonus game/free spins.
- Fisherman Wild: Appears on all reels during the free spins. Substitutes for base symbols to form lines, and collects values of any Fish Money symbols on-screen. Each one also lights up a square in the progressive meter to level up, retriggering more spins and unlocking multipliers.
Bonus Features
- Third Scatter features: In the base game, whenever 2 Scatter symbols hit without a third, there is a chance for the third to be brought onto the screen via a random feature:
- If the Scatters on the grid can move down a space without falling off the grid, they will do so, respinning the other reels.
- A Hook can pull up a reel to reveal another Scatter.
- Free spin modifiers: Before the free spins round starts, 0-5 modifiers are randomly selected to help you out:
- More Fish: A higher number of Fish Money symbols show up.
- More Fisherman: A higher number of Fisherman Wilds show up.
- More Hooks, Dynamites and Wipeouts: The probability of hitting a Hook, Dynamite or Wipeout is increased.
- Start From Level 2: The round starts from level 2 in the progressive feature.
- +2 Spins: The round starts with 2 more spins, and with each retrigger, an extra 2 spins are awarded.
- Free spins: During this round, each Fisherman Wild that hits collects all Fish Money values on screen and lights up a square on the progressive meter. Every 4 squares means you level up, retriggering 10 free spins and adding to the multiplier for Fish Money collection. After Level 4 is over, the free spins end.
- Level 1: Starting point with 1x multiplier.
- Level 2: 10 free spins and 2x multiplier.
- Level 3: 10 free spins and 3x multiplier.
- Level 4: 10 free spins and 10x multiplier.
- Random free spins features: 3 mechanics in the bonus round can randomly help you out:
- Dynamite: When there are Fisherman Wilds on the grid but no Fish Money symbols, a Dynamite can appear to add Fish Money symbols in random positions.
- Wipeout: Similarly, a Wipeout can appear and change all the symbols – except for the Fisherman Wild – to something else.
- Hook: Conversely, when there are Fish Money symbols on the grid but no Fisherman Wild, a Hook can appear to pull up a reel, revealing a Fisherman Wild.
- Ante bet: In the base game, for 50% more of your current wager, the chance of Scatter symbols landing is higher.
- Buy the bonus: You can buy into the standard bonus round for 100x your wager, or buy into the Super bonus round for 350x your wager. In the latter, you start with all 5 of the modifiers in play.
- Max win: 5,000x, with a 1 in 1,683,555 frequency on average.
- Hit frequency: 1 in 6.14 spins.
- Free spins frequency: 1 in 114 spins.
SweepsPlays Verdict
- Despite a slight Hawaiian/surf makeover, the gameplay and mechanics remain nearly identical to previous versions. It still has a strong RTP but is highly volatile.
- Collecting Fisherman Wilds for Fish Money values can be exciting, but the bonus round often underdelivers.
- Extra perks from the modifiers sound good, but they often don’t move the needle when it comes to the result of the free spins.
- With so many nearly identical Big Bass games, this feels like another rehash rather than a truly fresh entry in the series.
