New Slots Round Up: 30th August – 5th September 2025

It’s been an eventful week in slot land, at least when it comes to slots and sweepstakes casinos (which is exactly what we deal with).

Yes, slots giant, Pragmatic Play pulled out of all sweeps platforms in the US in a shock move, meaning we have to wave goodbye to its star-studded catalog.

The withdrawal is said to come into full effect on September 8, and we’re talking the exit of some of the most popular slots of the last few years, including Sugar Rush, Gates of Olympus, and Big Bass. OK, I might be secretly happy I never have to review another Big Bass game, but the news is a massive disappointment overall, and it will leave a big hole in the lobbies of many sweeps casinos.

Hopefully it won’t be a signal for other providers to exit too. Looking at it positively, it’s a chance for them to capitalize on an opportunity to become the new top dog.

And turning to this week’s new releases, we have a relatively small list to play through, but nearly all were great. So let’s get into our first post-Pragmatic roundup now…

The world of the Vikings seems to be a popular theme lately, with the likes of Halls of Odin and Stormborn releasing recently. We even had Ragnarok 40K from Slotmill not too long ago, and it’s this studio that brings us Pillage & Plunder this week. Given that Slotmill was founded in Sweden, it’s perhaps no surprise they’ve tapped into the Norse theme once again.

Pillage & Plunder is all about Wilds. I especially like the way that unused Bonus symbols turn into Wilds, and then we have the Wild Ship symbols that throw out even more for you. Then if you manage to line up enough in the bonus round, you unlock a giant Longship, which is just cool as hell.

If you’ve played Brew Brothers, you’ll see this is essentially a reworking of that, but Pillage & Plunder is still great fun and rather generous in the bonus round. We also have Reel Rampage from the same studio, which is this week’s Game of the Week below.

Next up in this section is Star Clusters 2 from Big Time Gaming. The innovative Star Clusters Megaclusters came out 5 years ago, but despite Big Time changing the face of slots with their Megaways mechanic, Megaclusters never took off in the same way. Still, Big Time deemed Star Clusters worthy of another look in 2025, and there are enough changes to make this revamp worth playing, including the addition of a massive 34,500x max win.

Star Clusters has essentially been given an update, bringing the game more in line with how modern slots tend to work. So there’s a bonus buy feature now, plus a standard bonus round of 10 free spins, rather than the free spins building in a piecemeal fashion like before. The Megaclusters mechanic (winning symbols splitting into smaller blocks) is still great, and Star Clusters 2 makes for a fun session this weekend.

Bonanza Trillion from BGaming plays like a clone of Sweet Bonanza, so there’s not much we haven’t seen before.

But closing this section out we have Bash Bros from Hacksaw, which is more creative.

The novel feature here is Cash Stacks, which land randomly and extend up to the top of the grid, producing a stack of multipliers that work on your current wager. We also have two new cartoon characters in Oskar and Fred, looking like Baloo from the Jungle Book’s rough-and-tumble relatives. And if you like low volatility slots, you’ll know they can be hard to find, but Bash Bros falls into this category for regular wins during your session.

So while there’s only a handful of titles this week, I must say, the quality levels are high. Now let’s move on to our Game of the Week below.

Game of the Week

Slotmill has put out some impressive work over the past year, with its releases showing a polish and maturity that stand above the average slot. Reel Rampage, though more colorful and cartoonish, brings its own charm, and it’s a release that deserves a closer look.

The theme here feels decidedly post-apocalyptic, and like plenty of inspiration was taken from the Mad Max universe. The music is intense and the gameplay is in your face, leading to a stimulating experience.

We have four characters, who all seem heavily involved in the world of souped-up cars; your aim is to score standard paylines in the base game, while landing these colorful mechanics as Stacked Symbols on the leftmost reel.

When you do, you’ll open up a mini-game reminiscent of Hold and Win, and by the end of the feature you’ll hopefully have gathered enough symbols to form some winning lines. There’s also a Multiplier Meter along the bottom, and every time you charge it up with symbols, the Stacked Symbol on the left increases its multiplier. You can score upgrades too, in keeping with the turbo-charged car theme.

Then we have the bonus round where the gameplay is largely the same, but a few elements are tweaked in your favor to produce higher wins. The max win is about average at 15,000x.

The gameplay in Reel Rampage is fun, but it’s the rhythm and flow, combined with some excellent visuals and animations, that really elevate the experience beyond that of a standard slot. And we’ve got the demo below, so you can try it out for yourself!
