It’s 4th of July weekend, and while one new release is firing up the grill for the occasion, the rest of this week’s slots serve up a real variety of different flavors and themes.
Pragmatic Play’s latest series improves on classic slots by introducing Super Scatter symbols that give out instant cash prizes when they land, even before triggering the free spins round. If that sounds like your kind of thing, you should give Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter – this new iteration of the legendary Sweet Bonanza – a go. 50,000x is the max win, by the way, which is awarded when 4 Super Scatter symbols land together.
And if you thought 50,000x was high for a max win, Nolimit City wants you to hold its beer. Brute Force Alien Onslaught, the sequel to Brute Force from last year, has a max win of 80,000x! I wonder if that figure was intentional, as this series is inspired by 80s arcade games and movies (the Contra game and Alien movie spring to mind), and there’s the usual myriad of NLC features like xNudge and xBoost. There are also some eye-watering bonus buys, which seem to be the norm for NLC games now.
Then we have the unexpected phenomenon of an NLC-inspired game from…TaDa Gaming. Big Boss has another max win of 50,000x and an edgy, immersive theme based around a jailbreak, and it also has reels with locked cells that remain inactive until triggered. That’s just one of the many features crammed in here, and the big stack of interesting mechanics is another reason this feels like something from NLC. It’s definitely one of the better-looking and better-playing TaDa games.
3 Lucky Baozhu is the more traditional jackpot fare we expect from TaDa, and, from the same studio again, Mines Cricket is a cricket-themed Minesweeper-type game, as the name implies (not a slot).
Backyard Grill from BGaming is something squarely aimed at the US market for 4th of July, so make sure to get in the mood and try it out this weekend.
Charm of the Dragon from Bullshark is quite fun, with its multiplier ladder at the bottom of the grid, meaning every time you land a win, you increase your multiplier. The grid can also expand in size, which is always a neat feature.
Old Drac from Backseat is an average scatter-pays slot that doesn’t do much to break new ground, but Dracula fans will love the theme. And it’s a similar story with Cranky Panda from Relax – competent enough but nothing new.
Finally, Marlin Masters: The Big Haul is another entry in Hacksaw‘s fishing slot series. I actually prefer this game to playing Big Bass, the main fishing slot series we all know and love/hate. Marlin Masters: The Big Haul has additional features like LootLines, the often-used Hacksaw mechanic. Plus it looks great and has a lot of character in general.
Then this week’s Game of the Week is Crazy Crops so read on for our thoughts on this from Slotmill.

Game of the Week
Crazy Crops from Slotmill delivers a fast-paced take on the Hold and Spin mechanic, wrapped in a cartoonish farmyard theme.
The excitement begins with Stacked Symbols that can nudge to fill an entire reel, and when this happens, the Hold and Spin action commences. The more vegetable symbols you land, the longer the round goes on for, so the higher your multiplier becomes. Essentially you’ll want to keep each vegetable streak going as long as possible. OK, tomato is technically a fruit, but you get the idea.
This respin mechanic can appear in both the base game and bonus round, but it’s much more likely in the latter due to nudges always working on Stacked Symbols that aren’t fully covering the reel yet.
The max win is relatively low – especially by this week’s standards – at 5,000x, and the volatility is medium, but the direct gameplay and charming visuals and music will find plenty of fans, I’m sure.
