Sometimes it feels like slot themes come in waves, or maybe it just highlights that studios stick to the same aesthetics over and over. Either way, this week we have 2 ancient Roman slots in the form of Reign of Rome (our Game of the Week) and Gladius Death or Glory. The latter reminds me of the Money Cart series, where the base game is more of a holding pen to get to the bonus round.
Then, just like Gates of Olympus Super Scatter from last week, this week we see Zeus Goes Wild, another Olympus-themed slot. This one’s a very simple 3 x 3 title – these basic games seem to be an emerging trend right now. Following the same route, we have Lucky Tiger 1000 and Wealthy Frog – both from Fat Panda/Pragmatic Play and both very easy to understand with just 5 paylines.
If you want something a little more involved, you could try the remaining two slots this week from Pragmatic: Resurrecting Riches and Candy Stash Bonanza. However, if you’re an experienced player, they both use ideas we’ve seen plenty of times before, so maybe read on for our Game of the Week?

Game of the Week
Our featured slot this week is Reign of Rome from Hacksaw, a solid new game with an atmospheric legionnaire theme.
It shares a lot of similarities with 2024’s Donny Dough, which originally established the LootLines concept. For the uninitiated, LootLines are special multiplier bonus symbols that either work additively or multiplicatively, so when you land a string of them on a standard payline, they combine to multiply your bet into some hefty wins.
Just like Donny Dough, Reign of Rome works with standard paylines, and also plays out on a 5-reel grid. Where Reign innovates is by adding a tumble/cascade feature, plus a clever mechanic in the ‘This Is Rome’ bonus round: any unused LootLines symbols on a winning spin get stored in an extra row at the bottom of the grid, and the whole row is triggered once it fills up. Yes, this bonus round can get tasty.
With a trademark Hacksaw atmosphere (i.e., gritty and dark), Reign of Rome is a great new addition to this studio’s catalogue. A 96.27% RTP and 15,000x max win should persuade you to give it a few spins at least!
