New Slots Round Up: 27th September – 3rd October 2025

After something of a bumper roundup last time, the new releases are fewer this week, but that means I can spend more time with each. Let’s take a look…

We start with Face Off from BGaming, which is a sinister title likely released in preparation for Halloween. If you think about it, this is basically a reskin of Bonanza Billion, one of the more popular BGaming slots from a few years back.

There’s, of course, a cavernous difference between the vibes of these two games – Face Off is eery as hell, especially in the audio department. The tumbling cluster pays gameplay – with multipliers thrown in for the bonus round – is simple but effective. Sometimes you can’t beat the old classics.

Trying to beat an original winning formula is what you’ll find in our next slot though. I’m talking about Le Cowboy, the latest in the Le series from Hacksaw. The original, Le Bandit, is still one of the all-time slot classics, and kudos to Hacksaw for not resting on its laurels but making significant gameplay changes for each iteration in the series.

Here in Le Cowboy, we have another tumbling cluster pays game, but every time a Wild is part of a win, it’ll transform into a revolver chamber, and each bullet therein will be shot onto the grid, creating the valuable Coins (plus other special symbols) we’ve come to know from this series. That’s the base game, and in the bonus round, things revolve around the…revolver idea again. There’s also the chance to simply play the bonus or gamble and hope for an upgrade.

The second of the two bonus rounds is the more interesting, with a building revolver that gets unloaded at the end. It’s unlikely you’ll spin into this level, but you can achieve it through gambling. Overall, Le Cowboy didn’t quite grab me like other Le games have, but I can’t deny it’s a solid slot with a 25,000x max win potential.

Treasure Tumble Dream Drop slot

Treasure Tumble Dream Drop from Relax was really enjoyable for me. It’s a spiritual successor to the likes of Temple Tumble 2 but with a bigger grid. This one is 8 x 8, although much of it will be taken up by blocker symbols at the start of each spin. The goal is to land (yet more) tumbling cluster wins, and when you do, you’ll explode the surrounding blockers, opening up the screen for more action.

You have the multipliers on squares that have experienced a win too, à la Sugar Rush. Of course, there are also special symbols which trigger different types of explosions and events, and it’s quite satisfying to open up the grid and see what chain reactions are in store. The serene underwater/scuba diving setting really works with the gameplay too. It’s just a shame the RTP is also down in the depths at 94.00%.

Finishing off this section we have the insanely titled 777 Jackpot Diamond Hold and Win Mega Multi from Gaming Corps and Fruit Empire from Popiplay. These fruit machine-style slots really don’t do it for me, but maybe you’re one of the group that likes to play them? There must be at least some fans out there, otherwise these studios wouldn’t keep making them!

Anyway, let’s get onto our Game of the Week, which is far more original in my opinion.

Game of the Week

Deck of Scurra from Print Studios is a game that can make you think about slots in a different way. It doesn’t feel like a slot – it looks more like a table game – but at its core it is an all ways pays slot on a 5 x 3 grid. You just have to spend a while wrapping your head around what’s happening.

At the end of the day, there are eight base symbols/cards, and five Alteration Cards. When the latter land, they’ll be pulled to one side, ready to act on the grid once any tumbling is over. For example, the Coronation Card upgrades low-paying symbols into higher ones, which could help you form more lines.

You’ll want to spend some time getting familiar with the flow before hitting the bonus round, which is called Evolving Deck. Either land 3+ Jester Card scatters or buy in and you’ll be presented with a whole other level of cards flying around the screen. This round is facilitated by a deck of the same cards used over and over, and that deck is altered before the round begins proper. Other than that, for the sake of brevity, things are largely the same as the base game, but the chance of wins is essentially higher.

So Deck of Scurra is certainly something of an acquired taste. There are no bright colors, explosions, or crazy sound effects to mark wins, meaning it’s less of a dopamine rush and more of a refined slot experience. The mysterious classical music in the background only adds to this feel.

I’m not sure I’d necessarily even use the word “fun”, but Deck of Scurra is innovative and interesting in the way it doesn’t feel like a slot, and that alone is enough for me to “enjoy” it. The max win of 20,000x can make playing worthwhile. And it’s very highly volatile, so while it doesn’t feel generous, when you examine the figures, it can be.
