The weekend is here again, and we have nine titles to sink our teeth into!
When you think about it, a lot of characters from slots have superhero qualities, but they’re rarely painted as explicitly as Spinman. This is the new game from Hacksaw, and it features a Spider-Man-type main character with comic book-style art to boot. The mechanics are very Hacksaw-esque, with expanding reels as one of the main features, but for a simple yet rewarding pick-up-and-play title, this one hits the spot.
Mahjong Wins Super Scatter is another entry in Pragmatic’s Mahjong Wins series. You won’t be surprised to see an Asian theme here, and the visuals look great, with each square looking like – and sounding like – a mahjong tile. The Gold Symbols transforming into Wilds, plus the gigantic 100,000x max win make this worth a look.
Pirate-themed slots can be a lot of fun, and we have another in the form of Blackbeard’s Bounty by BGaming; the 20,000x max win is nothing to sniff at here, although the gameplay is nothing you haven’t seen before.
Bullshark feeds us Culinary Clash, with a 7 x 7 grid, cluster pays format, tumble feature, and multipliers after a cluster hits and falls away. It’s simple but addictive, a bit like the hamburgers and fries adorning the screen.
Fans of the slot smash series, Gates of Olympus might be pleased to see another reskin in the form of Games in Olympus 1000, but equally, that may not interest you at all – there’s nothing new here gameplay-wise.
Overall, I had the most fun playing Ragnarok 40K this week, and so it’s our Game of the Week below…

Game of the Week
I feel Slotmill is making the best-looking slots right now, and it’s keeping up the pace with Ragnarok 40K. As the name implies, it’s set in the world of Norse mythology, and it builds on the original Ragnarok title from last year. In fact, this is mostly a tweaked upgrade with a higher max win, but considering that figure now stands at 40,000x, there is great potential for big wins here.
You’ll find beautifully detailed tiles that look as if they’re chiselled out of rock, and there’s a lack of a visual grid too, at least in the way you’ll see one in most slots. Along with the rousing soundtrack and epic backdrop, there’s a unique atmosphere to enjoy.
As for the gameplay, it’s fairly easy to pick up. You need to form clusters of five or more tiles, and wins tumble away with two side effects: doubling the multiplier at play and leaving a Wild tile behind. Yes, that multiplier doubles with every tumble (or ‘Avalanche’, as Slotmill calls it), so once you start chaining a few wins together, the totals can get big, and fast.
As if this game wasn’t epic enough already, there’s the possibility of Giant Symbols, massive tiles of four or nine squares, and in the bonus round, multipliers build over the whole round, rather than just one spin.
Just like the original, the gameplay still feels simple but elegant, and combined with the new, higher max win, this is a slot I plan on coming back to!
