After some dry weeks lately, we finally have a great selection of quality slots to try out!
Tramp Day Trueways is the sequel to the original Tramp Day slot from 2023. Trueways is basically BGaming‘s version of Megaways, and this is not a bad game at all. The theme reminds me a little of the Nolimit City style, but this isn’t as edgy as NLC would go. Still, with the global multiplier mechanic in the bonus round, you can rack up some big wins here. There’s an added Hold & Win feature that wasn’t in the original either.
The second title from BGaming this week is Penalty Duel, and it continues this studio’s recent run of non-slot titles. It’s more of an instant game based around soccer penalty kicks, and you can play as the penalty taker, aiming to score goals, or as the goalkeeper, aiming to save them. Depending on the area of the net you opt for, you multiply your wager by different values – if it’s an easy goal, you’ll get a lower multiplier, but if it’s a less-likely goal, you’ll get a higher multiplier. You know the drill.
Golden Bank 2 from TaDa Gaming is based around the idea of an old-school 3-reeler. There are multiplier wilds, plus a bonus game where you build up bonus funds at the top of each reel, but honestly, it’s not very interesting. The saving grace with TaDa games is that they can have higher RTP rates – you’ll find one set to 97% here.
Moving on to Lucky Tiger, again from TaDa, things start to look up. The theme is all around fun, and the visuals are up to modern standards, which is not always the case with these guys. Lucky Tiger is not going to blow you away with its 3 x 3 grid and a random multiplier mechanic, but it does give me some hope for this studio in the future.
And what’s this, another title from TaDa that’s kind of enjoyable? Maybe things are indeed improving for this small Maltese studio. Yes, Fortune Hook is another 97% RTP slot with a 20,000x max win to boot, and it might make you laugh because it’s a stunningly blatant ripoff of Pragmatic’s Big Bass series, but with wackier visuals. Yeah, Pragmatic rips off enough ideas from other studios, so it’s fair game for being copied too! It’s just a shame there are no bonus buy options here like you can find in Big Bass titles, so you will have to grind through the base game.
Speaking of Pragmatic Play, and its collaborator on Big Bass, Reel Kingdom, we have a new slot from this pair called You Can Piggy Bank On It. In fact, the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree, as we have money symbols here that work in much the same way as the Big Bass Bonanza fish money symbols. We’re also on a 5 x 3 grid again, and the base game is similarly dull… Luckily the bonus feature diverges from Big Bass, and it’s quite complex, involving TNT and the collection of money symbols. In all honesty, like Big Bass, I can see this slot potentially becoming quite popular for some reason.
I usually enjoy Backseat Gaming slots, but PyroFox felt a little mediocre. Maybe it’s because I’d just been playing Aiko and the Wind Spirit, but the mechanics are very similar to that game with expanding wilds (and less innovation), so it’s fair to say this slot didn’t set my world on fire.
Yes, if you want to play something with expanding wilds this week, I’d recommend Hacksaw’s Aiko and the Wind Spirit, which is our Game of the Week, so read on for that.
But to finish things off here, we have another anime-themed slot from Hacksaw Gaming called Rainbow Princess. I’m wondering if someone at this studio just got back from a Japan trip, because that makes two anime-style slots in one week! This one looks very much like Moon Princess and Starlight Princess, but it plays a bit like the famous Sugar Rush series with tumbling clusters and multipliers that become sticky in the bonus round. It’s a visual treat, and if you’re a Sugar Rush fan, you will most likely enjoy this too.

Game of the Week
I mentioned a few anime slots earlier, and here’s another: Aiko and the Wind Spirit. But instead of the kawaii, sparkly, anime princess aesthetic, this one draws clear inspiration from Studio Ghibli films.
The main character with her cat reminds me of the Mancala slot, Mio & Neko Rock too, but the art and music in Aiko and the Wind Spirit gives such a relaxed feel – it’s surprisingly different to the hype and drama of pretty much all modern slots.
The game mechanics bring expanding wilds (with multipliers) called the Wild Spirits, and this is how you form meaningful wins in both the base game and bonus round. There’s also the Zephyr Crest symbol, which helps activate Wild Spirits and can make them stick around for a respin.
There are two levels to the free spins feature. In the first, you essentially get a higher rate of Wild Spirits and Zephyr Crests, but in the second, each multiplier from the expanding wilds gets stored above the reel, meaning it can be reused, building up into some impressive wins.
The mechanics are very ‘Hacksaw’, but the theme and ‘story’ alone make this game worth playing. The music of Joe Hisaishi and the visuals in the Hayao Miyazaki style have been aped so well, to the point you wonder if Hacksaw might have a lawsuit on their hands. The RTP is 96.29% and the max win is 10,000x – give it a go and see what you think!
