Another week winds down, bringing us a fresh batch of new titles straight out of the big slot oven!
Arrow Slot from BGaming draws on the emerging trend of super-simple slots – in fact, it changes the grid into an arrow shape with only seven ‘squares’. There’s a definite 80s feel to the theme with neon and synthwave, but will it hold your attention in the long term?
Something like Eternal Dawn from Slotmill is much more fleshed out. It’s a different take on a previous Slotmill title, Eternal Dusk; it’s not quite a straight-up reskin, but it’s very similar.
Then we have Blood Diamond from Nolimit City, which I was looking forward to trying out, but the excitement evaporated a little when I realised the symbols made use of AI art. The gameplay here is great – I just hope we don’t get to a point where all slots feel like AI slop, and NLC tends to pride itself on originality, so it was a bit surprising.
Rad Maxx from Hacksaw is our Game of the Week, so read on for that. Mad Muertos from Pragmatic Play and Dragon Power Triple Gold from Wild Streak Gaming provide little to write home about, but Pragmatic redeems itself this week with Witch Heart Megaways. At first you might think it’s just another Megaways game, but the Witch Heart Wild symbol adds something new to the formula, levelling up when it’s used in consecutive tumbles.

Game of the Week
Rad Maxx is our pick this week, and it’s a sequel to the popular RIP City slot from 2023, meaning we see the return of cat and mouse cartoon characters, Ro$$ and Maxx. The visual style here once again references 1920s and 30s ‘rubber hose animation’, Disney and Fleischer, and has similarities to Hacksaw’s Le Bandit series too.
In terms of the gameplay, Rad Maxx builds on top of RIP City, and things certainly feel busier. The main new mechanic lies in how wins aren’t measured simply from left to right on the grid, but also top to bottom, and basically in all four directions, providing you land the Wild Plus symbols to trigger this feature. It’s a neat concept that makes me wonder why the grid isn’t viewed from all angles more often – it certainly changes the feel of a slot, opening up more possibilities to win.
However, because of these new ways to score paylines, each win is, on average, smaller than in RIP City. Because of this, you might assume Rad Maxx’s volatility is lower than its prequel, but according to Hacksaw, it’s higher (4/5). The RTP is still excellent at 96.32% (assuming your casino of choice is using the highest possible RTP).
All in all: this is a great slot to try out with an innovative new way to see the grid.
