New Slots Round Up: 4th October – 10th October 2025

It’s time for this week’s Slots Round Up, so let’s pick each game apart and see if it’s something you’ll enjoy.

Starting strong, Steamrunners from Hacksaw combines a retro steampunk aesthetic with medium-volatility gameplay. Green and Purple Gas Canisters transform low-paying symbols into Wilds with random multipliers up to x200. Sticky Wilds in the bonus round often dominate the grid, and the unpredictable spreading mechanic fits perfectly with the freewheeling mechanical theme, making for generous, Wild-filled sessions.

Emberfall 40K from Slotmill is a tweaked update to last year’s original, and it feels like it’s set in the same universe as the Ragnarok series. That’s a game which also has a 40K version, boasting a massive 40,000x max win. So visually and atmospherically, Emberfall closely mirrors Ragnarok, but while the latter used cluster pays, Emberfall opts for scatter pays. It does keep the doubling multipliers on every tumble and giant symbols though.

The theme of man versus dragon has a cinematic bent to it, and while there’s little that separates it from the original, this remains a solid slot with a strong atmosphere.

Jellyens X from Popiplay is essentially a Sweet Bonanza clone with jelly aliens in space. The gameplay isn’t anything we haven’t seen before, but with Pragmatic’s exit from sweeps there is perhaps finally a need for these types of copies.

Lucky Macaw from TaDa keeps things simple with a plain base game and a Hold & Spin feature that triggers randomly via coins. No bonus buy is available, so it can take a while to land the free spins, but the compact grid makes filling it up in the Hold & Spin round achievable.

3 Pots of Potions Bonus Pot from Gaming Corps throws its witches hat into the ring for Halloween, although the 96.01% RTP and 5,000x max win won’t set anyone’s world alight. This is an all ways pays slot with 4,096 lines and it’s reminiscent of something like 3 Hot Teapots. You have 3 pots – or in this case, cauldrons – that you can activate for 3 types of special add-ons in the bonus round. Fans of Harry Potter or general magical-type worlds might get a kick out of the theme.

Barbarossa Dragon Empire from Peter & Sons is a sequel in this studio’s Barbarossa series. Looking at the stats, it has a nice 40,000x max win, but with a 1 in 200,000,000 probability, you’ll have to get exceedingly lucky. Unfortunately the demo wasn’t working when I went to try this one out, which is a shame, as I always have time for this unique developer.

Then in terms of non-slot titles this week: Cash Stack from TaDa is a funny crash game where you literally stack cash and hope the tower doesn’t fall over. Then Plinko 2 Halloween is exactly what it sounds like – a Halloween-themed Plinko game.

Now let’s get on to the excellent Game of the Week: Snake Arena 2 from Relax Gaming.

Game of the Week

Much like Emberfall 40k, 2019’s Snake Arena by Relax Gaming featured another man vs lizard storyline, but this one had more whimsy and the man/knight getting eaten A LOT.

It came during a period where Relax was churning out all the hits, like Marching Legions and Money Train, so perhaps returning to the Snake Arena IP is an attempt to recapture those glory days. That being said, the studio has far from rested on its laurels here.

Upon loading Snake Arena 2, the first thing you’ll notice is how we’ve gone from a medieval knight setting to some kind of futuristic mech world. I guess it’s a lot like how Money Train evolved from the Wild West in the first game to a futuristic cyberpunk feel by Money Train 4.

The snake is still here, but it’s been modified somewhat. It’s now a mechanical creature sitting above the grid, and beneath the grid we have what the game calls Slayers: hooded warriors that often pop up randomly under one or more reels.

If a Wild is present on its reel, the Slayer will furnish it with a multiplier value to help boost any wins, which is great. Then, sometimes the snake will awaken and try to hunt the Slayers, and in doing so, the Slayer turns its whole reel Wild, adding a multiplier again. Standard wins are formed on 14 different paylines.

These are the core concepts of the base game, but, if you’re willing to increase your wager, we have various upgrade options, including one to help us spin into the bonus feature.

Yes, 3 Bonus symbols trigger a choice between Slayer Spins or Arena Spins, the two bonus rounds. In the former the snake is always awake (Wild Chase mode), essentially creating the groundwork for lots of Wild Multiplier reels. Then in the latter, a completely different kind of game emerges, although it’s somewhat similar to the original Snake Arena bonus game.

The grid will change shape and the Snake will now start to do its thing. It’ll move to eat a Slayer, slithering across the platform and gobbling up an array of Feature Symbols along the way, which helps boost payouts. For example, you might land Snake Egg multipliers, or a Chameleon symbol that collects up all the values of other symbols on display.

This is actually a very detailed game and it’ll take you a while to understand all the rules – I haven’t covered everything here – but it’s worth it in the end.

When a Relax game hits, it’s like no other type of slot. You get excellent world building and visuals, and novel concepts that keep you playing for hours. With Pragmatic leaving the sweeps vertical, it’s up to studios like Relax to keep the quality slots flowing, and I hope they do.

The 96.10% RTP here is just fine but the 50,000x is something worthwhile to chase. All in all, Snake Arena 2 is a solid game that’s a lot of fun, and I’d recommend giving it a go below!
