New Slots Round Up: 2nd May – 8th May 2026

Kicking things off with a bang, Ultras by BGaming feels like the studio is utilizing more of a Nolimit City direction as it works with the theme of soccer hooliganism in preparation for this summer’s World Cup. Last week we had Le Hooligan from Hacksaw, but it didn’t feature any true hooligan themes. Well, BGaming said “Hold my beer!”, before hurling it at the nearest cop!

ultras slot hold and win

BGaming took on the Winter Olympics earlier this year with Winter Trophy Hold and Win and its cute cartoon animal look, but Ultras goes in the opposite direction, creating a realistic and aggressive take on the World Cup theme.

Its main special features are Expanding Wilds and a Hold & Win bonus game, but there are neat touches like a scuffle between a hooligan and a riot cop to announce the square multipliers used during the H&W round. There’s also a meter at the top of the screen during this feature, and if you manage to land enough symbols, you’ll trigger 2x and 3x global multipliers. The RTP is a cool 97% and, for what it’s worth, I managed to end my test session in profit.

Dandy Diamonds from Hacksaw Gaming doesn’t quite reach the excitement levels we’re used to with this studio, instead bringing a mainstream slot style with fruit symbols, a simple retro aesthetic, and a funky soundtrack.

The gameplay centers around the titular Diamonds, which trigger a respin whenever they land – this always provides the chance for another Diamond to land, so if you chain them together you’ll get consecutive respins. Multipliers can apply to the Diamonds too, and you might even see Bolt symbols which can boost the multipliers. Unfortunately max win here is quite low at 5,000x, but for a slot clearly designed to be more bread and butter than Hacksaw’s usual output, Dandy Diamonds sits above average.

pirates rising slot stars in base game

Pirates Rising by EdgeLabs introduces a novel way to score prizes with a pyramid of jackpot values sat above the main grid. To access them, you just need to land 6 silver or gold Stars, and as the feature is triggered, the Stars will move up their columns, uncovering jackpot prizes for you. This system works in tandem with the standard 25-payline slot. Of course, there’s a pirate theme here too, as implied by the title.

EdgeLabs games can look a little amateur, and it annoys me that you get a slim mobile view even on desktop, but the jackpot tower system here is interesting.

Hot Rocket 5x 3x 2x from BGaming is one of the more unwieldy slot names I’ve come across lately, and the theme is odd too: a strange mishmash of volcanoes, dinosaurs, South American visuals, and…rockets.

Indeed, whenever a Rocket lands on the grid, it flies into the volcano and can potentially trigger the jackpot round – it’s one of those games that teases you visually, but you’ll likely have to send quite a few Rockets into the lava before the bonus ever comes.

The game works like a traditional 3-reeler with 9 paylines but with Wilds and the titular multis involved too. All in all, I wasn’t a fan of this – it felt like one of the most confused slots I’ve seen in a while. The max win is very low at 2,500x too.

World Class Kick Off Dream Drop by Relax Gaming takes us back to preparations for the World Cup, although the soccer theme is a decidedly retro one here. Using goalkeeper gloves, soccer cleats, and other associated paraphernalia, players can score wins in an all ways pays format. Almost half of the grid is covered up by default, so you’ll want to land soccer balls to unlock as many of these squares as possible.

There’s a conveyor of reel multipliers at the bottom of the grid too, plus a Bet Slip feature which allows you to wager that a certain symbol will land a certain number of times. It’s a novel way to offer some action away from, but connected to the reels. It is a shame the RTP is so low here at 94.00% – maybe that’s thanks to the Bet Slip idea, which never seemed to pay off for me. There’s also the Dream Drop system included, of course, offering a chance at random jackpot prizes, but I’ve never cared for that feature.

Rounding this section out, we have Atlantis Treasure from Popiplay, a Hold & Win slot with an underwater theme. The visuals clearly draw inspiration from Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas with the steampunk submarine look. That said, if you’re looking for a stronger take on this kind of thing, I’d recommend Wins of Nautilus Megaways by Fantasma Games for a better session.

Game of the Week

The Soapranos is a bit of a satirical take on some kind of mafia or criminal enterprise that is literally laundering money. It’s brought to us by Peter & Sons, the Armenia-based studio famed for its attention to visuals and its recognizable cartoon style.

To be honest, The Soapranos doesn’t use that cartoon look, opting for a more realistic, edgy feel that might remind you of Nolimit City. There’s a gritty atmosphere and some nefarious deeds evidently going on, as blood splatters against glass in the background and blood-stained dollar bills rain from the sky during a big win.

As for the gameplay, it plays out on a 5 x 3 grid and in a cascading, all ways pays manner (243 paylines). Wilds land in the form of washing machines on every single cascade, and a multiplier will always be applied in this instance too (2x). These Wilds will often form a win and cascade away, but that will trigger another Wild, and so on.

Also, any multipliers applied to a square will remain, even if the Wild disappears. In fact, there are three types of washing machine Wild: Regular (already described), Special Wild (adds a bigger multiplier), and Blast Wild (applies multipliers over a 3 x 3 area). However, any built-up multipliers will disappear as the next spin begins.

So, the benefit of the Free Spins (land 3 Scatter symbols) is that multipliers are sticky for the whole round. Plus, if you manage to land a Special Scatter along with 2 standard ones, you’ll trigger the Super Free Spins, where all Wilds that land are the Special Wild or Blast Wild type. As you can imagine, this boosts the level of your wins significantly.

Return to Player is not too shabby at 96.10% and maximum win is said to be 30,000x, which is great. This is high volatility too, and while you can have long dry spells at times, when everything starts to hit – especially in the Super Free Spins – it’s an exciting game.

The Soapranos isn’t a classic slot by any means, but it’s certainly cinematic, and in a quiet week it’s nice to feature Peter & Sons in Game of the Week.
