Pots of Power: Mummy’s Treasure from AvatarUX is a cartoon, Ancient Egypt-themed slot played on a 5 x 3 grid with 25 paylines. The base game is dull, but when you land 3 Bonus symbols, things kick into gear. A spinning wheel with three layers takes over the screen, deciding how many spins you get in the free spins, the grid size, and the amount of Power Frames. The round is basically Hold & Win, but the Power Frames roam around between spins, and if they land on the same square as a Coin, they’ll add themselves to its value. It’s not bad.
On the other hand, 16 Royal Coins from Popiplay seemed dull from the outset and never really improves – it’s low-medium volatility, with a 2,000x max win, a Hold & Win round, and a 2-tier jackpot. The traditional casino theme fits, but it also makes the game feel completely average. We’ve seen this type of slot thousands of times before, and there isn’t anything here to make it stand out.
Something a bit different now as Tipping Point Drop Zone from Relax Gaming is actually based on Tipping Point, a popular British game show based around a giant coin-pusher machine. The coin pusher is constantly moving above the grid here, but to shake Coins onto it, you’ll need to land a Drop Zone symbol. Coins then fall down onto the grid, with various multipliers attached. The concept is similar in the bonus round, which plays like a limited Hold & Win feature, although you only get 3 spins to land as many Coins as possible. Outside of this, the base game is a simple 25-payline slot on a 5 x 3 grid, with a few extra features thrown in.
We’re about to enter Oktoberfest season and Blondes & Beers by AvatarUX is celebrating that fact. To the left of the 3 x 3 grid stands a buxom blonde with beers in hand, so the title certainly delivers, but how is the gameplay? Well, it’s just 5 paylines over 9 spaces, so it’s hardly the most exciting setup. The main feature is the chance to land 3 different types of Multiplier Wild: Lager with up to a 20x multiplier, Golden Ale with up to 200x, and Dark Ale with up to 2,000x. It’s pretty basic and clearly AI art in parts, but if you like gazing into the eyes – or at other areas – of an Oktoberfest maiden, this could be the game for you. Unfortunately, the 95.99% RTP is one of the lower ones this week.
Royal Potato: Dream Drop by Print Studios follows on from Royal Potato and Royal Potato 2, which arrived on our screens in 2021 and 2023 respectively. In fact, the original was one of Print’s very first games, and it was a hit with its strange but fun theme and a bonus round where the aim was to expand the 2 x 1 Jumbo Symbol in the middle of the grid by using it as a Wild. The more symbols that scored wins with its help, the bigger it would grow, and this high-volatility game could pay out crazy amounts. It also had a surprisingly stately soundtrack, which somehow made the whole giant-potato affair even more entertaining. This new release is essentially the Dream Drop version of the original, but Dream Drop symbols have been added to the reels, giving you the chance to trigger one of four progressive jackpots. I’m not the biggest fan of this feature, but those who like chasing huge instant wins might enjoy it.
Wild Wild Duck from Popiplay made me chuckle. The theme is a bare-faced imitation of one of the most popular slots of the last few years: Duck Hunters by Nolimit City. The visual style has been imitated remarkably well, to the point where this is probably one of the best-looking Popiplay games we’ve seen, but the premise has been flipped on its head somewhat – it seems the ducks are fighting back, or at least one of them is. The main mascot is essentially a cross between Daffy Duck and Rambo, and the whole thing feels like a bit of a tongue in cheek jibe. The problem is that the gameplay is quite different from Duck Hunters. Scatter pays have been carried over, but the cell multipliers – which were really the key to what made Duck Hunters so much fun – are nowhere to be seen. So while Wild Wild Duck made me laugh, it ultimately left me wanting to play Duck Hunters instead.
Credit where credit’s due, Gaming Corps has been on the 3-pot trend for a little while longer than most with its 3 Pigs series. We saw 3 Pigs of Olympus Bonus Pot released in March last year, and since then there’ve been various sequels, including 3 Pigs of Olympus 2 only a few weeks ago. Now we have 3 Pigs of Olympus 30,000 Extreme, which has the same basic idea but with a max win that’s been increased to 30,000x. The visuals have been extreme-ified too, taking on a much more hellish look, although strangely the calm music is exactly the same as before, which doesn’t really fit. 30,000x doesn’t feel particularly extreme to me either, and the RTP has dropped to 95.83% too, which isn’t great. Hmmm.
Hacksaw Gaming seems intent on continuing its dive into tired but mainstream concepts with The Jade Path Hold & Win. The name gives you a good idea of what’s in store here, and I’ll add that the game plays out on a 5 x 3 grid with 9 paylines and medium volatility, plus it has an RTP of 96.19%. And visually, if you loaded this up and asked me to guess the provider, I’d have said Pragmatic Play, not Hacksaw. There are 2 types of bonus: Warrior Riches or Jade Bounty Hold & Win. The former is similar to the base game, but the Wilds are Sticky, while the latter is basically a standard H&W round. Really boring stuff overall, to be honest.
Next, we’re onto Wincent Wolf by BGaming, and one thing this does win is the award for one of the worst slot soundtracks ever. There’s basically a guy singing about Wincent Wolf, who “always” wins. I’m glad these vocals don’t run constantly because the game would become almost unplayable with them, but the fact that they do stop is probably an admission that they’re annoying in the first place. The visuals are really gaudy too, and I have a feeling they’ve been drawn with AI. As for the gameplay, it’s super basic: 20 paylines on a 5 x 3 grid with Wild Multipliers that become sticky in the bonus round. The only good thing about this is the 97.00% RTP.
Doctor Dust by Bullshark Games will be a good pick for players who enjoy games like Gems Bonanza where you aim to fill a meter while triggering various special features along the way. There’s a lot going on, so learning the rules will be vital to getting the most out of this game. To sum up, every winning symbol within a cluster win gets recorded on the meter, and every time you hit 8 winning symbols, you trigger one of the 4 power-ups: Clone, Switch, Wilds, and Power Line. Then, if you hit 40 symbols all in the same spin, you’ll unlock the bonus round.
Here, the first spin in the round receives all 4 power-ups, while the next spin’s selection depends on the spin before it, and so on. However, when no segments on the meter get filled, the round is suddenly over. The post-apocalyptic theme is cool, and while Doctor Dust is complex, it’s also pretty creative. Overall, it’s one of the better Bullshark slots I’ve seen in recent memory.
We round out this section with Arctic Duel, the second slot from Bullshark this week, and this one’s a bit more simple, with all ways pays working over a 5 x 3 grid. The main special feature is the Walking Wild, which will move 1 space across the board on every winning tumble, either left or right. Sometimes there’s a multiplier attached too, and this can be unlocked with a win and sent to the global multiplier in the top right of the screen.
In the bonus round, the global multiplier builds for the whole round, rather than being reset, and for every 2 Walking Wilds which waltz off the side of the grid, an extra free spin is added. The wintery theme with the snowman and rabbit is actually pretty relaxing, and it’s another solid slot from Bullshark, but it just doesn’t have the X factor needed for the Game of the Week spot.
Let’s get onto that below.

Game of the Week
Wicked Grin from Hacksaw is a simple but elegant game that feels a lot like the studio getting back to its roots. The mascot, Boney Bill, is some kind of cross between vintage Mickey Mouse and the grim reaper, while the whole game has the retro-style animation and swing soundtrack combination that Hacksaw has used plenty of times before.
The gameplay revolves around tumbling scatter pays, with 6+ symbols needed for a win on a 5 x 5 grid. With medium volatility, wins come fairly often, but the fun part happens when Wicked Grin Coins land and reach the bottom row, often through a tumble. They then expand over the whole reel, adding Coins in Gold, Silver, and Bronze, as well as Diamond Coins and Multipliers for bigger wins.
Bronze Coins have starting values of 1x, 2x, 3x, and 4x, while Silver Coins range from 5x to 9x and Gold Coins from 10x to 50x. Diamond Coins are worth 100x, 150x, 250x, or 500x, while Multipliers range from 2x to 20x.
By the way, the Multiplier is a bit different to the rest because it modifies the Coins above it and on the 2 reels either side of it.
Scatter symbols can also trigger the free spins when 1 or more reach the bottom row, expanding upwards and revealing numbers that are added together to determine the total number of free spins. You can get at least 5 free spins, with up to 15 possible from a single reel.
The rules are largely the same in the first tier of bonus round, but reel multipliers are present and apply to wins from Wicked Grin Coins, with the multiplier increasing each time a Wicked Grin Coin unfurls. In the second tier (triggered by a Super FS symbol), the reel multipliers are replaced with Coin Collectors, and these collect all Coin values until the end of the round, when they’re added together. However, Multipliers can act on them throughout the duration of the round.
RTP and max win are pretty average at 96.27% and 10,000x, but with Hacksaw going off in a more mainstream and frankly boring direction lately (see The Jade Path Hold & Win from this week), it’s nice to know the studio can still turn out fun little slots with plenty of personality like Wicked Grin.
